Melbourne's Rising Alt-Pop Star, Sunset Salore, Unveils Spectacular Debut Single ‘Call It’: “From Disenchantment to Emotional Liberation”.

It is a fact that romantic relationships have always been complicated, but they seem to become increasingly dispensable as we learn to value our own well-being over that of others. In response to this reality, Melbourne-based Australian singer and songwriter Sunset Salore has declared, “I’ve Had Enough” with her new single titled ‘Call It’. This song vividly captures the challenging journey from frustration and romantic disillusionment to emotional liberation.

With an emergent and ascending music career, this talented artist’s musical beginnings trace back to 2019, with the release of her first composition titled “Gold”, which left everyone stunned with her spectacular vocal and performance skills on stage. However, it wasn’t until July 2024 that she decided to take the leap into stardom, making her official debut on streaming platforms. Thus, this new release marks the official start of her discography, establishing itself as her first single available for global streaming, which surprisingly has already amassed nearly 40,000 plays on Spotify and over 17,500 monthly listeners worldwide in just a few weeks.

Sunset Salore’s inherent talent is evident from the very first listen. With her impressive vocal range and polished singing technique, combined with her rich instrumental background, she captures the audience's attention from start to finish. The combination of her emotive performance and her innate storytelling ability through her lyrics allows listeners to immerse themselves in her world, deeply connecting with every note and every word.

Track Analysis:

In ‘Call It’, born and conceived from personal experiences, Sunset Salore does not hesitate to express her sincere and realistic appreciation of romantic relationships. In its nearly four-minute duration, she boldly delves into one of the most complicated phases of her life, sharing an intimate part of herself with the audience.

Although this songwriting method may seem risky from a technical perspective due to its high content of personal references, the artist executes it with incredible mastery, conveying her message to listeners in a way that makes them feel like the protagonists of her story, evoking past sensations and, in some cases, even reopening old wounds. In this way, she effectively connects with listeners on a very deep and personal level.

"This song is about addressing all the little micro-moments in a relationship that don’t stack up anymore, and in that moment, deciding to call time on everything. Essentially, it’s saying, I’ve had enough with the status quo – this isn’t good enough, I deserve better."

Sunset Salore – Singer & Songwriter

However, this captivating story is not about a specific event but rather a collection of experiences from which the artist has drawn inspiration and a profound moment of reflection that she shares with the audience, embarking on a musical journey that ranges from her deepest feelings of frustration to complete emotional release, appealing to self-love and self-care. Sunset declares: “’Call It’ It’s not a song about one person, it borrows from many relationships over the years, but it does draw deeply on personal experiences. As a society we use labels a lot, but sometimes in relationships we can be scared to label things at all. ‘Call It’ also seeks to throw out the notion that labels materially change the accountability each party brings to the table in a relationship. It really matters how we treat each other, regardless of what we do or don’t want to call that interaction.”

Through highly introspective verses and intensely catchy choruses, ‘Call It’ is a true amalgamation of exquisite sounds, making it even difficult to classify within a single genre. Its dynamic structure allows both the singer's incredible voice to shine and the instruments to have their space on the main stage, offering a colorful sonic blend and a balanced listening experience that can be enjoyed by a wide audience.
