After a long-awaited period, and with nearly seven years in the making, "We Are The Promise," the striking and latest audiovisual production by singer and songwriter Kelsie Kimberlin, finally makes its official debut on streaming platforms. Once again, it leaves us all in awe with her talent and disruptive approach that challenges conventional norms.

This release not only marks the triumphant return of the artist in this 2024 year but also establishes itself as a true cinematic masterpiece of the highest quality. It emerges as one of her productions that best captures the essence of Kelsie's authenticity and her commitment to always carrying a message of struggle and hope.

About The Artist

Kelsie Kimberlin is a talented American/Ukrainian singer-songwriter who has been involved in music from a very young age. At just 24 years old, she already boasts an impressive musical career, collaborating with renowned music producers worldwide and recording over 100 original songs. Her extensive musical repertoire encompasses compositions from various genres such as pop, rock, and even rap and hip-hop, showcasing her skill as an artist and her versatility as a songwriter and singer.

Her music has garnered praise from various music press outlets and radio stations worldwide, even securing a spot in the top 20 of radio charts in Ukraine for three months before the outbreak of the war. With her unique artistic approach, Kelsie has openly supported Ukraine not only through her songs but also by actively participating in humanitarian efforts and numerous audiovisual productions aimed at raising awareness about the daily horrors faced by thousands in the armed conflict. In this way, Kelsie emerges as a relevant and inspirational figure not only for her people but on a global scale, where each of her songs stands as a true banner of struggle and hope amidst the chaos.

About The Release

"We Are the Promise," officially released on January 8th, establishes itself as Kelsie's first release in 2024, commencing the year with a powerful artistic proposal that seamlessly blends the music with cinematic elements. Surpassing all expectations, it has once again left dozens of music critics and hundreds of thousands of her fans in awe, unveiling what is undoubtedly one of her most ambitious productions to date.

The inception of this masterpiece dates back seven years to 2017 when Kelsie diligently worked on a demo version of the song. She later sent it to the legendary Ukrainian composer and film director Sergiy Krutsenko in Kyiv, who quickly became interested in the proposal due to the evident power of the composition and the significance of its message. Thus, Sergiy composed the spectacular orchestral piece that accompanies the song, which was further brought to life by the Kyiv Radio Symphony Orchestra.

But it doesn't stop there. Sergiy Krutsenko believed that this proposal deserved a cinematic touch, a touch that only he, with his distinguished style as a director, could provide. That's why he reached out to Kelsie to start filming as soon as possible. The result is not only a true gem of the seventh art but also features the participation of a stellar production team, prominent actors, and numerous historical locations and iconic places.

"We Are the Promise" focuses on a captivating theme that holds significant relevance in the global political and social landscape. Kelsie skillfully employs music as a concept to convey her message, using it to represent the freedom of expression and thought. In this way, her artistic approach confronts a fictional dictator and his army, symbolizing behaviors such as authoritarianism, totalitarianism, and even the influence of shadow powers in contemporary society.

"The story is about a dystopian society where music is banned and musicians are executed for violating the "law of silence."  I play the role of the protagonist musician who opposes the dictator while his army of misfits constantly try to stop me but I always get away at the last second. This story is not only a metaphor for the actions of authoritarian regimes around the world but it foretold, in a sense, the 2022 full invasion of Ukraine by a dictator with a misfit army".

In-Depth Analysis

"We Are the Promise" feels like a genuine film, not just because of its incredible cinematography work but also due to its ability to immerse us in the role of its protagonist from the very beginning.

With the phrase "KILL THE MUSIC" uttered by the dictator and his army, inevitably, all of us who are artists and music lovers feel implicated and even... feel a bit of anger. In this way, "We Are The Promise" achieves its goal within just a few seconds of starting, as it makes a profound impact on the audience by extrapolating totalitarianism to everyday aspects of our lives, such as something as pure and organic as enjoying arts and music.

Kelsie's commanding voice makes a grand entrance as she steps into the first verse, resembling a true war chant. With a melody that proves incredibly catchy, she invites the listener to stand firm, evoking an impressive sense of strength with each of her words. Her message is clear and concise: "You get to see us coming right now, we are gonna take you down cause we’re tired of your threats." In this way, she demonstrates that those who should fear are not us but the tyrants.

Simultaneously, the magnificent orchestral arrangements accompany this discourse, intensifying the sense of empowerment and inner strength in the listeners. However, "We Are The Promise" does not limit itself to expressing just anger and struggle. This composition successfully balances and seamlessly combines different musical nuances and variations in intensity throughout its extension.

For instance, as it progresses, Kelsie's voice soars with sustained notes over the chorus with the phrase: "We are the promise, we are the glory, we are the story," functioning as an anthem that we inevitably want to sing along with Kelsie. Only to descend later over an exquisite bridge section that creates a break in the chord progression, anticipating the feeling of triumph and peace once we manage to break free from the chains of oppressors.

"We Are The Promise" not only stands out for its incredible quality of production and direction in the music video but also as a musical work that manages to evoke various, even opposing, sensations in the listener, challenging their ability to maintain not only strength in the midst of the struggle but also faith. This endows it with an impressive scenic aura, establishing itself as a true contemporary Rock Opera.

Kelsie's unique, rebellious, and transgressive approach once again takes center stage in this musical piece, resonating universally with the global disaster and crisis we face as humanity. It completely shakes those who dare to listen to her music, which is filled with truth— that uncomfortable truth seeking to open our eyes to reality.

This work is not only a testament to Kelsie's musical mastery and boundless creativity as an artist but also a powerful reminder of the profound connection between artistic expression and social consciousness.
